His agonized look on this cover always really captured the essence of this character for me. Something beautiful, turned into something beautifully horrible that yet, is still, underneath it all, an Angel. Forced to Live with the duality of being both a monster (in his case the Angel of death) and something beautiful at the same time that strives to do good. Truly comic writers are some of our greatest poets.
